Another Recpipe by Frau Pils ! : Streusel is a classic in Munich and if you love blueberries you’re in for a treat! It goes great with coffee or tea.

My mother used to make streusel when I was a little girl, it’s how she met my father, the smell was delicious, those were the best times of my life!

Ingredients for six people

Main ingredients

  • 140 g of flour
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 60 g of butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of powdered vanilla coffee
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 200 g of blueberries

Concerning the crumble

  • 55 g of flour
  • 35 g of butter
  • 60 g of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

  • Difficulty : Easy
  • Preparation : 20 min
  • Cooking : 40 min
  • Cooling : 15 min
  • Total : 1h 15 min

1) First you must prepare the crumble : Let the butter melt slightly. Add flood, sugar and cinnamon. Mix with a fork or your fingers. Once you have obtained a sandy mix put it in the fridge. Start preheating your oven at 170′ c. Rince the blueberries and put them to one side.

2) Mix the butter and sugar in a bowl. Add the egg and vanilla and continue to beat. Then put it aside. Mix the flour, the salt and baking powder in a salad bowl. Add mix 1 (eggs butter and sugar) to the flour (gradually). Then start pouring the milk and beat.

3) Butter and sprinkle flour in the tin. Pour the mix into the tin. Add blueberries on top.

4)To finish off, spread crumble over the blueberries and put in the oven for 35-45 minutes. It depends on the type of oven you have- keep an eye on the process. To check if it’s ready use a knife: plunge the knife approximately halfway into your creation, if it comes back out clean it’s good to go. Let it cool down before you attempt to take it out of the tin (approx. 15min).

Serve the streusel with vanilla ice-cream or homemade whipped-cream.
